Description
Here is a wonderful rare EARLY flask, this is the MASONIC / EAGLE with “HS” in oval. Listed as a GIV-2 in American Flasks & Their Ancestry by Helen McKearin, this flask is attributed to the Keene Marlboro Street Glass Factory, while under the management of Henry Rowe Schoolcraft, 1815-1817. This example is a beautiful clear olive green color, with an amazing impression, and a wild globby string top, and a sticky ball type pontil scar. You can see all of the interesting Masonic emblems, all being super crisp! This is probably one of the EARLIEST of the American flask molds, and a pretty important bottle for such a collector! I have included some literature about Henry Schoolcraft, but there is quite a bit on the internet… he was a pretty remarkable explorer later in life. Condition of this flask is wonderful. There is a tiny bit of roughness where the lip was sheared, but no issues… one of the finest examples you will see!
