Description
Here is a very nice early Wistarburgh tavern or beverage bottle, more commonly known to collectors as a chestnut bottle. This is an early one, likely made at Casper Wistars glass factory in Alloway New Jersey about 1780. It stands roughly 8 1/2″ tall, and is a really nice deeper yellowish green color. It has the typical globby (or blob) type lip treatment, and a smaller pontil scar. Very strong paddle marks, used to form the bottle shape. This one has clearly seen 250 years of shelf life, evident by the amazing amount of base wear! There are some expected scratches, but no damage. A true survivor! Imagine the stories this bottle could tell!!
