SOLD! 1860s “SARATOGA NY” Salt Jar / Wide Mouth Bottle!

This one transcends the mineral water category, and is desirable to many bottle / early glass collectors! Probably produced at the Saratoga Mountain Glass Works, 1860s. Although scarce to rare, it is believed that these jars were made commercially and it has been suggested that they were salt storage jars. Anyways, this one is probably the most common of the jars, if you can find them! It is embossed on the shoulder, ” SARATOGA N.Y” in a large font, and made from a 3-piece mold construction. The color is olive green, and it has some nice glass character! There is an open bubble on the inside near the base, tough to see. A FANTASTIC piece of glass!
