Description

I have enjoyed this one for many years, and really haven’t seen another quite like it! This is a large sized utility jar, probably 1820-1840 period, New England, made from a very dirty batch of amber glass. This one stands almost 8″ tall without the flyball, and 10 1/2″ with it, and a little over 5″ in diameter! Please take a moment to check out the character of this jar… a GALAXY of frit, debris and air bubbles swirling around creating a mini universe! This jar really is a special one. There is heavy base wear, and a few light scratches from use, but no issues. Check out the alligator skin effect around the top of the mouth from tooling over the rim. Just a fantastic “Earthy” example!!
